The way of the world
"Everything" by SweetStreet00
A silver thread ties all life together
into a star-studded bouquet
scented of pine and moon dust,
wrapped in a ribbon of blazing fire
that burns the hands of those
who try to swipe it away

The blossoms dance in the gentle breeze,
petals colored astral hues of violet and blue
Their heavenly perfumes fill the air,
beckoning more life to enter
and be entangled with the silver thread that binds it,
expanding its own universe with pieces of others
Such is expansion
Such is life

The leaves stay trapped within the fibrous threads,
unable to flow freely or taste the light
They sit,
smothered by layers of decadent ribbon,
and waiting for the silver thread to finally break
But like the hands of God,
the thread is unwavering
and continues to constrict what is unneeded
Such is compression
Such is life

But the roots lie elsewhere,
cut away from the more desirable parts of the world,
cast into piles of refuse and waste
The empty stalks cry out in pain,
old wounds still stabbing through their flesh,
but the blossoms pay them no mind,
and the leaves are still smothered,
so the stems scream into the emptiness,
their voices unable to reach the now rotten roots
Such is the opportunism
Such is the world
