"Change Of Heart" by victor 66

My mother’s dream was that I’d be a priest.  I started Catholic elementary school in first grade.  By seventh grade I was an altar boy and had no doubts  about my priesthood.

We didn’t have a lot of money, so I worked in the school kitchen to pay for my lunch.  Carrying milk bins up the outside stairs to the cafeteria, I stopped suddenly.

Up above me, was Karen Duncan.  She was just sitting there, smiling at me.  I couldn’t speak, she was just so pretty.

Shaking my head I thought, “Mom, me being a priest… never going to happen”.
