My first broken heart really did hurt.
"Dear John My Heart Loves You"
by Liberty Justice
|
Warning signs jumped out all around;
But such a beautiful feeling I had found.
My heart just couldn't and wouldn't let go,
Though my screaming mind told me "No."
Dear John, I was younger and naive back then.
Foolish was I; my body, I could not defend.
You were older and much wiser than me.
Love was fresh and new, you see.
You were so handsome and wild and carefree.
You swore I was your one and only beauty.
Our hearts were filled with such serenity.
I melted every time you came near me.
Your well-built body electrified my soul.
Over my whole being, you had full control.
Never wanted you to release your gripping hold.
Years later, I discovered that you had sorely lied.
I found photos of other women and I cried.
I wanted to forgive you, oh how I tried;
But, my tear-stained heart could not hide
My broken heart's pain I felt inside.
Looking back over these past hopeless years,
My heart never got over those painful tears.
I'd take you back, but my soul is full of fears.
Dear John, I hear you just divorced another bride.
