 ABOUT
SOPHIA DELGADO
Writing has always been my go-to when I have emotions or ideas I need to let out. When I was about 6 or 7, I would take about 30 pages from the printer, staple them together, write on 3 of them, then take 30 more pages and start a different story. So - more...

Reality, or Ignorance?
"The Wrath of Reality" by Sophia Delgado
I didn't expect visitors would stop by anymore

And yet, that day, Reality came tapping at my door

I couldn't bear to answer him, my blood ran icy cold

I hoped with growing dread that every lock I'd set would hold

And still the knocks grew louder, from a rap into a bang

I shuddered in my fear and let the heavy curtains hang

The knocks upon the doorframe simply rang out all the more

His cane was surely littering indents upon my door

I wished that he would leave; he stayed forever, it did seem

I chucked the television where Reality could be seen

I ripped up the newspapers where again he met my eye

And smashed the brand new radio; Reality was inside

I locked myself inside a room, I shut my frightened eyes

I donned a pair of headphones and this silence was the prize

I was at peace, for now I could not hear his rapping rants

I shut out old Reality and welcomed Ignorance

Author Notes
This poem means a lot to me. I have always feared that ignorance will destroy our perception of reality, leaving reality in chaos while we all stay in our silent bubbles of indifference.
