"Mama Duck Don't Play!" by Y. M. Roger

Don’t look at me like that, you hound,
all saggy-faced and bummin’

After your last romp through our pond,
you must have seen this comin’!

You just love to chase and holler,
my poor ‘lings are still freaked out

And seein’ that I’m no brawler
you get ‘fair play that’s turnabout’.

Now, given you’ve no pups to chase,
and your bark’s worse than my quack,
I’ve chosen to protest with grace
and just a little payback...

Because my pond now sports your fur
from your splashing 'round the shoal,
I do believe that duck feathers
are perfect for your water bowl!

Author Notes
Bummin' - (aka 'bummed out') my students use both to indicate being 'let down' or 'depressed'

'lings - mama duck lingo for 'ducklings'

Freaked out - (or freaking out) pretty self-explanatory, but is an older student term for 'panicked'

I actually use both the first and the third words probably more than they do these days! LOL! Thank you for reading me! :) :)
