Chapter 97 of the book 2019 part 4
contest entry
"Each Morning I'm Alive" by Barb Hensongispsaca
I took a walk this early morn
'midst pain and loneliness.
I asked my Lord, 'Why am I here?
I'm tired.' I did confess.

'I want so much to be with You,
I'm tired and I can't walk.
I sometimes feel that you don't hear
whene'er I need to talk.'

I turned around to go back home
just to come face to face
with such a beautiful design
created with God's grace.

This Morning Glory of such hue
had brought me to my knees.
This flow'r I'd overlooked each day
survived the night's harsh freeze.

The vine still green while all else died
reminded me of me.
God sent this sign to wake me up
to life I had to see.

'Cause He's not done with me just yet,
my faith I need to share.
Then when He's ready, I will leave
this world and all it's cares.

Author Notes
My early morning walk after the first freeze of the fall season, had signs of vines and flowers frost touched and blackened. This seemed to add to my already somber mood. My legs ached with pain, my lungs fought to breathe, and I asked, 'Why?'. This flower was my answer and I amazed at the still green vines with no sign of black. It seemed to talk to me and I resisted the desire to pick it.
