A Fun Halloween treat for Kids
"Witches on a Mission" by Dolly'sPoems

The witches gathered at midnight in the depths of a desolate wood; one by one they arrived on their broomsticks.  They removed their tall crooked hats and sat together around the bubbling cauldron.  Around twelve or thirteen of them registered their names with the coven leader.

Last year, their mission was to recruit selected grannies who had made their grandchildren burn their smart phones, these were women destined to be trained as accomplices.

All of them were dressed in black.  Some were youthful, happy and gay and others were old with dangling warts, long chins and pockmarked faces.  The ugly and the beautiful had one thing in common . . . a wicked sense of wizardry humour!

It was good to be among friends, and they chatted about the events of the previous year, exchanging stories of magic, skulduggery and pranks they had played on the community.  As we all know witches love a challenge, and there was a particular purpose to meet.

The annual gathering was headed by Sarah Grogg, she had a lot of experience in the industry and her spells were famed for being efficient and clever, she had written many books on the subject and some considered her to be the authority on the art of whimsical witchcraft!

After the preliminaries and introductions, she soon got down to business.

“We have a mission ladies.”  She spoke with command and determination.

“We have to rid the town of children!”

“They are a nuisance to everyone, make too much noise, and their curiosity is tiresome.”

The attentive crowd mumbled in agreement with eyes opened wide with delight at the thought of ridding the population of these puny pipsqueaks.

Sarah continued,  “We need to split into teams, each will be given a specific area to work.  We have a deadline of the 31st October when Halloween will be finally cancelled and the streets will be free of these urchins!”

Sarah instructed,  “The children will all be taken to a farm where they will learn how to work the land and grow their own vegetables.  They will be taught the real meaning of life and how to work as a team.  Any child who misbehaves or brings along an internet device will be severely punished and fed only candy so that all their teeth rot and fall out!”

The leader's final word, “Okay, you have your instructions girls, go get those kids and we will meet back here in a week.”

The witches chuckled to themselves, this was a mission they were going to enjoy and Halloween will be a peaceful event this year, no more kids knocking doors and bothering the neighbours!
