Writing a poem using specified words.
"Twas the night Jesus (Poem)" by Rosemary Everson1
Twas the night Jesus arrived,
all through the house.
Not a person was praying,
not even the spouse.

The Bible was left,
on the shelf, without care.
For no one thought,
Jesus would come there.

The children were dressing,
each crawled in their bed.
No one was kneeling,
or bowing their head.

Mom in her rocking chair,
with babe on her lap.
Was reading a fairy tale,
as I took my nap.

When down in the South,
there arose such a clatter.
I sprang to my tired feet,
to see what was the matter.

Away to the window,
giving myself some fresh air.
Tore open the wooden shutters,
and lifted the red pipe flare.

Then to my wondering,
blue eyes should appear.
Angels proclaiming soundly
that Jesus was soon here.

The light of His almighty face,
made me cover my head.
Was Jesus returning now,
just like He always said?

And though I possess,
worldly wisdom and wealth.
I cried when I saw Him,
in spite of myself.

In the book of life,
which He held in His hand.
Was written the name,
of every saved woman and man.

He spoke not a single word,
as he searched for my name.
Then He said, "Flower isn't here,"
my head hung in shame.

The people whose names,
were written in love.
He gathered and took them,
To the Heavenly Father above.

With those who were ready,
He arose without a final sound.
While all of the others,
were just standing around.

I fell to my bending knees,
was there temptation, hate ?
I had waited too long,
thus had sealed my fate.

I stood and started to cry,
as they arose out of sight.
Oh, if only I'd known,
 this was the correct night.

In the words of this poem,
the meaning is perfectly clear.
The coming of our Jesus,
is soon drawing near.

You have only one life,
and when He comes to call.
We'll find the words in our Bible,
they are true after all.

Author Notes
This poem resembles the "Twas the night before Christmas' lyrics. The words: air, hate, flower, pipe, final and cry are inserted. These words take me to a time in my life when I need to be ready; we never know when Jesus will come.
