A 5-7-5 Contest Entry
"Don't Give a Fig!" by Sandra Elizabeth Williams

Fir two years I tend,
but my ficus carica
just don't give a fig!

5-7-5 tree hugger writing prompt entry

Writing Prompt
Write a 5-7-5 syllable poem with three lines where line one has 5 syllables, second line has 7 syllables and line three has 5 syllables. The topic is a tree. Creative approaches welcome.

Author Notes
Ficus carica is the scientific name for the common fig tree. A fig tree will not fruit until it reaches two years old, but it can take some trees as long as six years to reach the right maturity.

Fir is a kind of evergreen tree (but I use it to be spoken from the side of the mouth to mean 'for').
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
