Sandy buys a lottery ticket
"The Lottery Ticket" by KatyM

The Lottery

It was the day before Christmas and Sandy decided to buy a lottery ticket. She had never bought one before and had to ask the cashier for directions as to what she had to do.
The cashier looked at her strangely and said, " You fill this out and put down the numbers you think will come up. It's real simple. "
Sandy bought the tickets and put down the numbers that she liked the best. That night she watched the news and they said the winning numbers during the newscast. The amount was staggering, the jackpot was up to 175 million.
The lady read out the numbers, 5, 21, 23, 27, 32, 52.
Sandy wrote down the numbers on a notepad so she could remember the numbers. Karen was 14 and was Sandy's middle child. She came into the living room and was observing her Mother. "Mom, watcha doing?"
"Karen, hang on, I am checking my numbers on my lottery tickets."
"I can help you, Mom. Give me the tickets and I can check the numbers for you."
Sandy, handed the lottery tickets over to Karen. She then read off the numbers to her and Karen checked off the numbers.
"Mom, the first two are no good. Read the third ticket."
"Well, how did I do? Did we win any money?"
Mom, did you say the numbers were 5, 21, 23, 27, 32 and 52?"
"Yes, I did. So did we win anything?"
Karen started jumping up and down and was so excited she could hardly speak. "Mom, you won! You won the jackpot!"
Sandy couldn't believe what she was hearing. "So we really won? Oh My Gosh! This is awesome! We need to find out how we are to get the money. This is beyond words. Think of all the things we will get to do and buy now that we have some money!"
