What addiction do you have that you can't do without?
"Being Spoiled" by KatyM

Have you ever wondered if there is anything that you absolutely couldn't do without? I have thought about this and have come up with several such things. I didn't realize how spoiled we have become until I started to make my list.
First off, indoor plumbing. I am so spoiled that I can't imagine having an outhouse or having a shower outside or not to be able to shower at all.

Electricity: I've never done without electricity and can't even imagine not having it. The only time I had to do without electricity was when the electricity went out during Hurricane Celia in 1970. We were without electricity for about a week. My Dad would fire up the grill and we cooked food that way.

When my grandmother was growing up it wasn't unusual for them not to have electricity and have to use lamps or candles. They were known to go to bed super early because they had to get up early to farm their land.

Internet: I could actually do without internet but not sure if I could do without it all together. There are times when I don't get online. I enjoy being able to hear from friends and family far away.

Computer/ writing instrument
I can't imagine not having a computer or at least have paper and pen to be able to write with. I enjoy being able to put my words down on paper.

Washing machine/Dryer
I am spoiled and am used to having a washer and dryer. When the girls were young we lived in an apartment and I had to go to the laundry room downstairs and across the courtyard to take care of our wash. I think I remember taking the girls with me downstairs and dealing with laundry but it was a struggle because neither one of them knew how to walk at the time. James was working weekends at this time so he wasn't able to help me with chores or taking care of the kids.
We have come along way from the days of using the laundry mat. I like the way things are now and would rather not go back to the dark ages.
