Free verse club - Letter S
"Season Splendour" by Sandra du Plessis

The last winter snow
spreading the ground
in a final white carpet,
the bitter cold,
unexpected
the last time we hope this season.

Despite the colder temperatures,
the first sprouts appear
and show their little heads
breaking through the layer of a white landscape.

Spring is closeby,
allowing winter his last call,
patiently waiting for the snow to melt
for the sprouts to blooming,
she will win winter at last.

The skies turn from gray to bright blue
and show us
the most breathtaking view
above the mountains and hills.

Summer is on its way too
with ripened fruits and grains
in the warmer sun rays,
prepare to feed the animals and nations.
