"Lion, in the Sun" by Ross E Silke
The sunlight beaming down
I wear a golden crown
With a lion's mane
I am rather tame

A yellow face
I am part of the golden race
On Rome's hill
Where the sun sets again

Apollo's wreath
And Michael's wings
With a golden lyre
I sing

Triumph over the red dragon
Whose destiny is doom
And yet not too soon
Until the seraphim tune

Their harps
And on a cloud He comes
Thunder and lightning
And hailstones too

Apollo's bow
And Jason's fleece
David's sling
And Gideon's armour

Samson's strength
And Joseph's dreams
Moses' staff
And Noah's faith

Against the world's hate
The lion roams
Attacked by the mouths of men
And the tongues of evil

Like claws of that dragon tearing at him
Yet his wounds will heal again
And stronger he'll be in time
To fight harder against this crime

Sunlight shines on a crown
A red tiger can be found
Roaming through the world at large
While the lion takes complete charge

Then Ares' sting
And red hot wings
With Nero's flames
And Caesar's glare
Will be put out with care

As the golden mane
Of the lion that is tame
Strikes their hearts
Of blackened stains
And in Christ we rise again

The golden red rose
And horse's mane
Mixed with royal blood
With chivalry and knight's armour
The prince of Christos overcame

Jezebel's black witchcraft
And Ahab's rule
And Judas' money spell
Hera's fight
And Zeus' wrath

Are no match for David's stones
No Goliath out of proportion
Can ever take away Apollo's wreath
And the lion's strength like Samson's
Nor the heart of John on the island of Patmos
