Author Notes
The Coso People created some 20,000 documented images in Little Petroglyph Canyon near China Lake, California, 1,000 to 10,000 years ago. The etchings are remarkably intact and might have been made by medicine people to venerate bighorn sheep or celebrate hunting rituals. The poem was inspired by slides shown in my online, art class.
