Ending up in the same place
"The Girl in the Rain" by Flyaway1

I want to run as the sky turns grey.
Dusk is coming.

The rickety house still exits. Time has taken it's toll.
The windows are nailed shut- the door is still locked.

A storm is coming; large drops of rain spit on the yellow grass. My soul was wounded in this place. Why am I here again?

I see a small, muddy child hunched over a cracked sidewalk. She is drawing with her thick pieces of chalk. I can not look.

The storm grows, pelting the sidewalk with rain. The colors pool into muddy puddles lost in the rage. She watches as the colors leave.

The rain is blurring my sight. It is time to go. Turning my head for one more glimpse, she smiles and waves me on. She does not cry, nor will I. I will not come to this place again.

All that was here is now gone.

Author Notes
I have not been able to write lately. Doing childhood trauma therapy. Hard work with good results. My thoughts are deep in the past.

The old house is real - I was afraid of that house.
