A man can dream.
"Still Waiting for Pecan Pie" by Jake P.

Dreaming of Mom's pecan pies, I planted a prize-winning tree in my backyard. After years of nurturing, it's big and beautiful. And in season, it's covered with pecans. But I have yet to taste one. Squirrels pick them green and hide them.

Ammonia, mothballs, predator urine...nope.

A motion-activated sprinkler...nope. They just climbed a nearby pole and leaped into the tree. Amazing. Wife got sprinkled three times...squirrels unfazed. I cut down the pole.

Presently, I've wrapped the tree trunk with aluminum sheeting that promises a surface too slick to climb.

Waiting and watching.

Now dreaming of squirrel pie.
