"Hallmarks" by Jmf4119

The oak leaves slowly drift and fall
and scatter on the frozen ground --
across these stones of yesterday
our dear departed saints are found.

Some names are faint, and some are carved
deep in these weathered rocks sublime.
A cairn was built to mark this place --
A hallmark to the test of time.

Fond memories are mingled here
where cherished pillars boldly stand.
Through them we trace our family tree --
both here and in the promised land.

As saints we walk this earthly place
and strive to serve Your precious Son.
We represent You to the world
and pray, O Lord, Thy will be done.

Author Notes
We moved recently and found a little church near our home located in a grove of oak trees. We toured the adjacent cemetery and learned so much of its history and the founders who loved the Lord and are buried here. They even built cairn to mark the location.
In the midst of all that is taking place today, it may seem odd to find peace in a graveyard, but I did.
