A modern day parable.
"Don't Destroy the House" by Robert Zimmerman

Sam determined to fix his steps because some people tripped and fell as they entered. He called the construction company to come to repair the steps Monday morning.

That evening Sam came home from work. He was astonished to see his house engulfed in flames. Debris was strewn everywhere.

He screamed, “WHY’S MY HOUSE ON FIRE?”

“We have to burn it down.”

“WHY?”

“People have fallen on your steps.”

“FIX THE STEPS…DON”T TORCH THE HOUSE!”
