A quiet faith may be obscured when faced with power's pride.
An active faith is brilliant with a light that shines inside.
The world is always larger than our mind can comprehend.
The universe extends beyond each shuttle we might send.
God's word is in the wind across the prairie's rippling grass;
it's brighter than the bubbles in the finest, shining glass.
Sometimes faith's clear as cormorants, in startling black and white,
or self-contained, like pelicans, who hold their faith like light.
But faith requires an action; to prepare to stand for good,
to serve your neighbors as yourself; faith wears a humble hood.
We pray to God, the Son of God, the deity we know.
Then faith builds up, like layers of love, or tiers of gentle snow.

Author Notes
I drew this picture of Jesus Christ calling the world to prayer with Prismacolor colored pencil in 2013 in New Mexico. There are two hidden words: kavanah, which is the Hebrew term for preparing to pray, and Adonai, another name for the Lord. You might notice the globe is stylized, but it looks more like Russia than any other part of the world.
