 ABOUT
DEEJHARRINGTON
It?s been such a very long time since I?ve logged in. I have been in a kind of mourning for my writing. It started as a writer?s block. I don?t know anyone who hasn?t experienced that. But, mine carried on for too long. Months then years went by and - more...

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
Slavery is not always in chains
"Listen" by Deejharrington
1619 the cargo chained in the bottom of despair
Divided and whipped,
Names changed,
Families disappear.

1719
1819 motherless children, less than human,
bought, sold, and murdered.

1863 the quill and paper proclaimed free
still murdered
still in chains,
of poverty
of hate
of ignorance.

1963 isn't a hundred years long enough?
the chains we locked are still there.

2020 can you say you didn't know?

Author Notes
I am absolutely dumbfounded by white people who believe they donĂ¢??t see and donĂ¢??t know what is going on in our country.
